  March 22

The 59th Mendenhall Area Chamber of Commerce Banquet will be held Thursday, March 22, at the Armory.  A silent auction begins at 6:30 p.m.  Dinner and the program begin at 7 p.m.  Tickets are $25.  For information or tickets, call the Chamber office at 601-847-1725.

 

Kindergarten through sixth grade children are invited to Magee Public Library on March 22 at 4 p.m. to watch the 2011 Warner Bros. movie, Happiness is a Warm Blanket, Charlie Brown. It is rated G with a running time of 60 minutes. After the movie and popcorn, make Snoopy masks.

 

March 24

An Easter party will be held at New Hope Baptist Church on Saturday, March 24, from 2-4 p.m. There will be activites, relay games and an Easter Egg Hunt. Please bring Easter baskets. No food, it is an an outside event. Everyone is invited to attend.

 

A church-wide garage and bake sale will be held at Galilee Baptist Church on March 24 beginning at 7 a.m. across from Dollar General in Puckett. BBQ sandwiches and hot dogs will be sold. All proceeds will go towards the church building fund.

 

 March 25

The 15th Annual Pop Robinson Celebration celebrating the life and legacy of Mr. L.V. (Pop) Robinson and Mrs. Rosetta (Sue) Robinson will be held Sunday, March 25, at 3:30 p.m. at Pilgrim Rest M.B. Church in Pinola. All groups, soloists and choirs are invited. Theme: Psalms: 150:1-5.

 

March 26-28

Youth Revival Service will be held at Oak Grove Baptist Church  March 26-28 at 7 each night. Guest speakers for each night are: Monday:  Elder Ozell White, pastor of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Prentiss; Tuesday: Elder Willie Hobbs, pastor of Nazareth Missionary Baptist Church, Mendenhall; Wednesday:  Elder Jeffery Magee, pastor of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Oakvale. Everyone is invited to attend.

 

March 26-30

First Baptist Church of Magee Holy Week Services will be held March 26-30 from 12-1 p.m. in the Family Life Center. Join and examine “The Words that Rocked the World: Final Words from the Cross.” Complimentary lunch will be served daily.

 

March 28

Creative Coloring: Coffee, Cookies and Coloring at Mendenhall Public Lirbary on March 28 from 1-2 p.m. Experiment with watercolors and ink. Coffee and cookies will be served.

 

March 30

Seven Sayings on the Cross will be held at New Hope Baptist Church on Friday, March 30, at 7 p.m. Food will be served immediately following the services. Everyone is invited to attend.

 

Last Seven Sayings from the Cross, Mt. Pisgah M.B. Church, March 30 at 7 p.m. There will be different speakers. Pastor is Mitchell Chatman. Everyone is invited. 

 

 March 31

First Baptist Church of Magee will sponsor a Community-Wide Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 31, beginning at 9:30 a.m. for children from birth through 6th grade at the Jimmy Clyde Sportsplex in Magee.  The event is free to the public, and more than 10,000 eggs will be hidden! 

 

The Magee First Baptist Church Pastor Aide Ministry will hold their Second Annual Pastor Aide Gala on Saturday, March 31, at 6 p.m. at the Magee Civic Center. The doors will open at 5 p.m. Minister Herbert Anderson and his wife Sister Deborah Anderson will be the speakers of the evening. This event is formal and a buffet dinner will be served.  April 1

Easter Sunrise Service will be held at New Hope Baptist Church  on Sunday, April 1, at 7 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend.

An Easter Sunrise Service will be held in Magee on the front lawn of First United Methodist Church on Sunday, April 1, at 7 a.m.  Breakfast will be served at 8 a.m. in the Family Life Center of First Baptist Church next door.  Sunday school begins at FBC at 9 a.m. with a worship celebration beginning at 10 a.m.  Everyone is invited to all events.

 

April 5

The Republican Women of Simpson County will meet Thursday April 5, at 11 a.m. in the E-911 Building in Mendenhall at which time they will host a Meet and Greet for Third Congressional District candidates. Guests are welcome. For information call 601-953-2433.

April 8

Annual Women’s Day Program will be held at James Chapel M. B. Church on Sunday, April 8, at 1:30 p.m. The guest speaker is Rev. Lorrie Turner, Pastor of Shady Grove CME Church, Brandon. All ladies are asked to wear white. Refreshments will be served in the fellowship hall.

 

April 12

Patron Appreciation Day will be held on Thursday, April 12 at Magee Public Library. All day, all ages. Enjoy cupcakes. Photo booth is back with props.

 

April 13

Flourish, a one-day conference for girls in grades 6-12, will be held on Saturday, April 28, at Goodwater Baptist Church on Airport Road in Magee. Bethany Barr Phillips is the speaker and worship leader. June 1-2

Magee High School Class of 1988 will celebrate their 30 year reunion on Friday, June 1, with a Meet and Greet at Magee High School from 6-7 p.m. and tour the old stomping ground and reminisce. A block party will be held at The Vault in Downtown Magee from 7-10 p.m. On Saturday, June 2, the 30 year class celebration will be held at Pretty Unique event venue, Hwy 18 W, Jackson, from 7 p.m. to midnight. The cost for the 2 day event is $150 per classmate and allows one guest. A deposit of $75 is due by March 12 and the final payment of $75 is due by April 2. A Bible study on the book of Revelations is being offered every Sunday night at 6 p.m. led by Pastor Bro. Donald Green at Fellowship Baptist Church, Hwy. 13 South, Mendenhall.

 

Morning prayer and afternoon luncheon is held every Thursday at Mt. Moriah Church. Prayer time is 11 a.m. until noon. Lunch and fellowship time is 12:15-1:15 p.m. Prayer and lunch is open to all people to get spiritually fed and natural food for the soul. Senior citizens, the needy and the homeless, come and bring a friend. Mt. Moriah Church is located at 160 Mt. Moriah Church Road, Magee.

 

The Books-n-Lunch Club meets at the Magee Library at 12:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month to discuss a book chosen for adult readers. New participants are welcome.
