James V. "Pete" Walker

James V. "Pete" Walker passed away January 3, 2018, at Simpson General Hospital at the age of 90. He was born on May 8, 1927, to Wayne S. and Clara Barnes Walker in Simpson County.

Pete proudly served in the United States Army and was a World War II veteran. He retired from the Mississippi Hwy Department and farming.

He is survived by his loving wife Y'Vonnie Westbrook Walker; son, Wayne Walker; daughters, Debbie Dossey (John), Delene Craft (Paul), sisters, Becky Parks (Billy); grandchildren, Cori Smith (Casey), Jake Walker, Paul Craft, Jr. (Leigh), Brian Craft (Ana), Amanda Craft; great grandchildren, Charleigh Smith, Carson Smith, Claire Craft, Karis Craft. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2018, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Tutor Funeral Home of Mendenhall with the service immediately following in the chapel at 2:00. Bro. Rodney Anderson will officiate. The final resting place will be in the Mendenhall City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mendenhall First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 366, Mendenhall, MS 39114 or the Mendenhall Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 838, Mendenhall, MS 39114.
