Simpson’s basketball teams played three games last week against East Rankin Academy, Hartfield Academy, and Taylorsville.
East Rankin Academy
East Rankin 55 Simpson 50-Scoring for Simpson were TK Catchings and Morgan Griffith with 16 points each, Bayleigh Prather 6, Alissa Brewer 5, Anna Claire Walker 4, and Kristin Busby 3.
The loss dropped Simpson’s record to 18-6 on the season and 2-2 in district play.
Simpson 70 Hartfield 58-Scoring for Simpson were TK Catchings with 25 points, Morgan Griffith 14, Anna Claire Walker 11, Kristin Busby 9, Alissa Brewer 6, and Bayleigh Prather 5. The win improved Simpson’s record to 19-6 on the season and 3-2 in district play.
Simpson 51 Taylorsville 47-Scoring for Simpson were Alissa Brewer with 16 points, TK Catchings 13, Anna Claire Walker 9, Morgan Griffith 8, Kristin Busby 3 and Sabra Hubbard 2.
The win improved Simpson’s record to 20-6 on the season.
East Rankin Academy
Simpson 73 East Rankin 58-Scoring for Simpson were Thomas Pepper with 23 points, Kyle Russell 21, Hunter Cline 20, Ethan Flynt 3, and Bryce Caughman, Hooks Harvey, and Bowen Kelly 2 each. The win improved Simpson’s record to 13-7 on the season and 3-1 in district play.
Hartfield 50 Simpson 35-Scoring for Simpson were Hunter Cline with 15 points, Kyle Russell 9, Ethan Flynt 7, and Hooks Harvey and Bowen Kelly 2 each. The loss dropped Simpson’s record to 13-8 on the season and 3-2 in district play.
Simpson 60 Taylorsville 57-Scoring for Simpson were Hunter Cline, Zach Holbrook, and Bowen Kelly with 13 points each, Kyle Russell 11, Ethan Flynt 8, and Thomas Pepper 2. The win improved Simpson’s record to 14-8 on the season.
In junior high action Simpson’s girls defeated East Rankin 32-31 and lost to Hartfield 45-30.
Simpson’s boys defeated East Rankin 43-27 and Hartfield 48-31.
Simpson will travel to Copiah Academy in Gallman on Thursday, February 1, with the 7th grade girls starting at 3 p.m. followed by the 7th grade boys, the junior high girls and boys, and the varsity girls and boys. Simpson will travel to Lamar School in Meridian on Friday, February 2, with the 7th grade girls starting at 3 p.m. followed by the junior high girls and boys, and the varsity girls and boys. Simpson will travel to Jackson Prep in Flowood on Tuesday, February 6, with the varsity girls starting at 6 p.m. followed by the varsity boys.
