The Mendenhall Tigers fourth quarter shutout streak came to an end, but the more important win streak continues. The Tigers traveled to West Lauderdale to take on the Knights in what many believed to be the District Championship game. The Tigers had not defeated the Knights in the past two seasons.

Simpson Academy’s sofball season came to an end on Saturday afternoon with a 14-3 loss to Jackson Prep in the Overall State AAAA Championship Series. The Lady Cougars have nothing to hang their heads about as they finished the season with a school record 28 wins, a State AAAA DII Championship, and the Overall State AAAA Runner-up.

The 5 and 6 year old Tinamites had to travel to Scott Central this week while the rest of the teams played at Trojan field against conference team Crystal Springs.

The Magee Trojans fell to 3-4 on the season and dropped their district opener to Velma Jackson. Very little went well for the Trojans and they struggled on both sides on the ball. The Trojans were kept out of the end zone for the second time this season. The final score was 26-3.

The Mendenhall Tigers put on a show for their home crowd last Friday in the form of a 40-7 victory over Newton County. Newton County scored on their first offensive drive of the game after a Mendenhall punt. Following the touchdown and extra point the Tigers returned the kickoff for a TD.

Simpson and Columbia played a nail biter that came down to the final play. With one tick of the clock left Simpson had the ball on the Columbia 31 yard line. With the game tied 26-26, Ethan Flynt hit Hunter Cline with a 31 yard touchdown pass to give Simpson a 32-26 win. The game started with Simpson driving down the field.
