Fallen Officer Memorial on May 18

The Simpson County Sheriff’s Department will host a Fallen Officers Memorial Event on May 18.

The event will be held at the Simpson County Justice Complex on old Highway 49 in Mendenhall. 

The event will honor  county officers who died in the line of duty:

Sheriff E. C. Mullins, End of Watch Mar. 20, 2001.

Sheriff Lloyd S. Jones, End of Watch Oct. 4, 1995.

Deputy Sheriff James Boykin Barnett, End of Watch June 26, 1990. 

Deputy Sheriff William Grubbs, End of Watch July 14, 1986.

Constable Wilson Charles Buffington, End of Watch, June 16, 1960.

Constable Willis Bernice Herrington, End of Watch  Apr. 13, 1951.

Deputy Marshall William Washington Hemby, End of Watch, Jan. 30, 1928.

Deputy Sheriff Earl Nunnery, End of Watch Jan. 30, 1928.

Sheriff Eugene Dickson Hubbard, End of Watch, Jan. 21, 1910.

Former Deputy Sheriff Paul Mullins will emcee the event.  There will be other special events during the celebration.  The public is cordially invited to attend this memorial to honor fallen officers.

Area high schools have chosen their top graduates for special honors at graduation ceremonies across the county this month.  They will be recognized and speak to audiences at those ceremonies.
