Mix and Mingle

Simpson County Development Foundation hosted a Mix and Mingle event at the Simpson County Country Club last week.  It was well attended with well over 50 members and guests.  The event was part of a community awareness program of the Foundation adopted by the board and its new president, Malory Yelverton. 

 





Runoff is June 26

Primary runoff elections will be held on Tuesday, June 26.

The Democratic ballot will have one race between Howard Sherman and David Baria for the US Senate seat. The Republican ballot will feature one race between Michael Guest and Whit Hughes for the U.S. House of Representatives Third Congressional District.

Deputy involved in accident

On Tuesday, June 5, at 9:01 p.m., Simpson County Sheriff’s deputies were responding to an emergency call for service on Bushtown Shivers Road when  Deputy Eric Still was involved in a single motor vehicle accident while driving on Hwy 43 near Pinola.


We need good people to run for elected office

G enerally speaking, folks go into office with good intentions to do the right thing for the right reasons.  They look to others who have served in those offices for advice on how to do things properly and sometimes if they listen they get proper advice and sometimes they do not.  They either don’t listen or they don’t get the proper advice.

Mendenhall Junior High well represented in MS Prospects football game

Four seventh grade students from Mendenhall Junior High will be representing Simpson County in the Second Annual Mississippi Prospects Football game on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at the University of Southern MS. Halloween events abound

Ghouls, witches, and goblins will have ample opportunities to rack up on candy this week.

Magee will be hosting Treat Street behind the Community Center from 5 until 8 p.m. at the end of Crazy Day.

The city is asking those who want to trick or treat in Magee to do so that Saturday evening until 9 p.m.

Banis, Fewell to unite June 2

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Banis of Magee joyfully announce the engagement of their daughter, Savannah Faith Banis, to Mason Warren Fewell. Mason is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Shane Fewell of Mendenhall. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Fewell of Mendenhall and Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Luckey of Magee.
