Suds 4 Dogs Day

Keep Mendenhall Beautiful recently hosted a “Suds 4 Dogs” event in which citizens would receive free hotdogs for cleaning street signs. The event drew great participation. Ready to work are, from left, Jeannnie Gregory, Melissa Caughman, Teresa Bowen, Shannon Welch, Brenda Booth, Martha Stubbs, Latasha Millis, and Susan Minor.

 



Soccer sign-up begins

The City of Mendenhall is now registering for youth soccer. Co-ed soccer will be available for children ages 3-16. A$45 registration fee includes the purchase of a team jersey. Registration forms are available at City Hall. Participants will need cleats, shin guards, and shorts.

Pastor Rev. Dr. Eric Dixson, Sr., and the membership of Oak Ridge M. B. Church invites everyone to their annual revival. This will begin on Sunday, August 12, at 1:15 p.m. Our nightly services will begin at 7:15 p.m. on August 13-17.  The theme is "The Great Deliverance" (Luke 1:74 - 75).

MBN operation in Magee

An operation was conducted the morning of August 7 at a residence on 11th Avenue NW Magee MS by the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics. The Magee Police Department was involved in a support role. MBN is declining to comment at this time. Updates will be made to this story as more information becomes available.

Simpson’s softball girls never quit

Simpson’s softball team has become the Comeback Queens with two come-from-behind walk off wins in the Overall State AAAA MAIS Tournament. The Lady Cougars had a walk off win against Copiah on Saturday 3-2. They saved their best for last. Trailing 7-1 against Oak Forest, the Lady Cougars roared back to take a walk off 9-8 win.
