Simpson’s basketball teams played Hartfield Academy last week in a district game.

Girls Games

Hartfield Academy

Simpson 66 Hartfield 51-Scoring for Simpson were Morgan Griffith with 23 points, TK Catchings 19, Alissa Brewer 16, Adeline Bond and Bayleigh Prather 3 each, and Sabra Hubbard 2. The win improved Simpson’s record to 16-5 on the season and 1-1 in district play.

Boys Games

Hartfield Academy

Simpson 56 Hartfield 48-Scoring for Simpson were Bowen Kelly with 15 points, Thomas Pepper and Kyle Russell 9 each, Hunter Cline 8, Ethan Flynt 7, Zach Holbrook 5, and Layton Brown 3.

The win improved Simpson’s record to 10-7 on the season and 1-1 in district play.

In junior high action Simpson’s girls lost to Hartfield 37-11 and Simpson’s boys lost to Hartfield 52-42.

Simpson will travel to Central Hinds in Raymond on Thursday, January 18, with the junior high girls starting at 3 p.m. followed by the junior high boys, and the varsity girls and boys.

Simpson will host Lamar School on Friday, January 19, with the 7th grade boys starting at 3 p.m. followed by the junior high girls and boys, and the varsity girls and boys. Simpson will host East Rankin Academy on Tuesday, January 23, with the 7th grade girls starting at 3 p.m. followed by the 7th grade boys, the junior high girls and boys, and the varsity girls and boys.

Social

Area high schools have chosen their top graduates for special honors at graduation ceremonies across the county this month.  They will be recognized and speak to audiences at those ceremonies.
