Trojan Baseball off to a good start

The Magee Trojans opened baseball season in a jamboree hosted by Pearl High School last Saturday. The junior varsity and varsity team each played competitive games, and impressed the coaching staff with their effort.

Head Coach Allen Eubanks said, “We had a really good day hitting in the Pearl Jamboree. JV got beat in last inning 7-6. In Varsity game we Beat Kosciusko 5-1 with 9 hits and tied 3-3 with Pearl in 3 innings after rain out.”

The Trojans have started the season with a strong showing at the plate. Jaden Chatman led all batters with 4 hits on the day. Aimon Chisholm, Mason Booth, and Caleb Brown each had 2 hits. Landon Hayes, Timon Kennedy, Adam May, and Chandler Pittman all had one. The Trojan pitchers threw really well, only allowing 2 hits on the day.

Eubanks said, “I thought we played very well considering we haven’t had a lot of outdoor practice time. We have a few minor adjustments to make but overall we as a coaching staff are very pleased with the way our guys played today.”

The Trojans’ first game will be against Mendenhall on February 23.
